Asthma, Colds, Pnuemonia All Winter Long: Kill Mold

Some folks dread the winter months. There seems to be someone sick at all times until spring comes. Asthma flares, colds that never seem to end, and finally pneumonia which certainly is serious if you get it every year. Please consider some environmental factors in being sick  Wet basements mean mold exposure.  Mold can affect health causing asthma, chronic sinus congestion and a whole host of other problems including upper respiratory conditions like emphysema and airway restrictive disease.Kill mold in the basement and improve the health of your family.
How do you kill mold and attack that wet basement? Start by using a dehumidifier in the basement.  Pitch all the moldy stuff which means cardboard boxes, books, wood  and any other porous materials. (Pretty much anything that would suck up mold including clothes).  Dirt crawl spaces need to be covered with heavy plastic because they give off mold spores.  Do not leave laundry in the basement for any extended periods of time. Get rid of carpeting in the basement; regardless of how you dehumidify the carpet will be moldy in the basement.   In order to kill mold, you need to dehumidify the basement and not store porous materials in the basement period.
Other places to consider for mold appearing are finished building:  drywall, foundation walls, and floor joints,  Sometime the job seems to overwhelming to do alone. There are professionals that specialize in mold remediation  To kill mold is vital to the health of your family.  According to FEMA, mold can grow between 24 to 48 hours after water intrusion.  They recommend cleaning all surfaces with 1 and  a fourth cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water. Lot to know and do; but if you keep at it will be done because the healh of your family is far too inportant.   Live Healthy...Be Happy
